QLD: Cricket stars in boating mishap

BRISBANE, Dec 30 AAP - Queensland cricket stars Matt Hayden and Andrew Symonds were
pulled from the ocean after their boat overturned near Brisbane early today.

Police said said their boat overturned on the South Passage Bar between North Stradbroke
Island and Moreton Island.

"The pair were picked up by the island's volunteer marine rescue service," a North
Stradbroke Island police spokesman said.

Hayden, a former Australian Test batsman, and Symonds, an Australian one-day all-rounder,
were unharmed by their ordeal.

They were taken to Amity on North Stradbroke Island, a spokesman for the volunteer
marine rescue service said.
