Fed: Global warming effects milk supply, CSIRO finds
Scientists say cows left out in the open produce less milk than cows kept indoors.
The CSIRO says a study in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales has found cows produce
three per cent less milk if they are kept outside in hot weather.
That's about 230 litres of milk per cow each year if it's a good milker.
Dr ROGER JONES of the CSIRO says global warming will make that figure higher in the future.
He recommends using shade sheds and sprinklers in hot weather to keep the cows happy
and productive.
